Coaxial Microwave Isolators
Coaxial isolators generally use SMA female connectors. Other connector orientations are also available. TRAK connectors meet the dimensional requirements of MIL-C-39012, and are torque tested. These coax isolators are ideal for military and space as we have a demonstrated and extensive program heritage.
Key features of our coax microwave isolators include: a one-piece stainless steel housing (providing excellent EMI performance, mechanical integrity, and corrosion resistance); compact size; and an extensive catalog of optional models with customization and integration capability.
Drop-In Microwave Isolators
Drop-in microwave isolators from TRAK have tab leads for interconnection with microstrip or stripline circuitry. These drop-in microwave isolators are ideal for military and space as we also have a demonstrated and extensive program heritage in this product family.
Key features of our drop-in microwave isolators includes: a one-piece stainless steel housing (providing excellent magnetic shielding, mechanical integrity, and corrosion resistance); extended center conductor tabs; no internal solder joints (except for those at a termination); compact size; and an extensive catalog of optional models with customization and integration capability.
Monolithic Micro-strip Microwave Isolators
Monolithic micro-strip microwave isolators from TRAK utilize a metallized ferrite substrate mounted on a ferrous carrier. Interconnections are typically gold wire bonds or ribbon bonds. These devices are often used in MIC modules for phased-array radar systems. These micro-strip microwave isolators are ideal for hybrid assemblies deployed in military and space applications. Once again, we have a demonstrated and extensive program heritage in this arena.
Custom High Power Iso-Combiner for UHF band Airborne Application
This innovative, dual junction, iso-combiner features a 7.5 kW typical peak power (450 W average), and a ¼ wave combiner Output with a 35 Ohm transformer. It is vacuum impregnated and measures just 4.5” X 2.25” X 0.5”.
Latching Isolator/Switches
These unique ferrite assemblies feature 2 GHz bandwidth @ 23 GHz CF, 10 kW Peak/10 W average power, 25 dB isolation, 0.3 dB insertion loss, and 1 µsec switching speed. An external driver is included and the device is now available in frequencies from 15 GHz to 34 GHz.
Advanced Engineering Tools
For our more complex junction and integrated devices, TRAK utilizes HFSS to analyze complex microwave structures to optimize interfaces and ferrite junction performance, predict thermal rise inside the ferrite junction, and calculate voltage peaks to predict dielectric breakdown.
With the addition of Maxwell magnetic simulation we can also analyze: magnetic field proximity effects; magnetic moments; magnetic return path efficiency; the shift in RF performance from small signal to high power operation, and create highly accurate models of devices with non-uniform fields such as in our microstrip isolators.
Design and drafting is done in SolidWorks, allowing us (and you) to view mechanical fit prior to cutting metal.
Environmental Testing
TRAK has the capability to conduct complete environmental testing of your microwave isolators in house including shock, vibration, moisture and thermal vacuum testing to the highest military and space requirements.
