RF / Microwave Frequency Multipliers
TRAK Microwave frequency multipliers receive an external signal source and multiply its frequency by an integer number (N). The minimum theoretical enhancement of the external sources phase noise is equal to 20 X log (N). Additional phase noise enhancement of the external sources phase noise is related to additive phase noise effects associated with semiconductor devices. TRAK’s frequency multiplier designs are optimized to minimize this effect. Multiplication up to frequencies of 2 GHz is typically accomplished with diode or transistor multipliers based on phase noise requirements. Frequency multiplication from 2 to 20 GHz is accomplished with active devices (BJT or FET) and/or with Step Recovery Devices (SRDs).
