RF / Microwave Frequency Sources

TRAK has been leading the way in low phase noise, crystal-based frequency sources for decades. Our latest sources are available as single function components, or integrated microwave assemblies (IMAs) featuring built-in local oscillators (LOs) and synthesizers. You can count on them for optimal dynamic range and reduced power requirements when looking to achieve the cleanest, furthest reaching signals . They are manufactured in-house using automated SMT and MIC assembly and come ruggedized for temperature and vibration. Crystal Oscillators

TRAK Microwave fundamental crystal oscillators range in frequency from 10 MHz to 150 MHz. Their frequency stability and phase noise are dependent on crystal selection of AT or SC cut. The AT cut crystal provides better stability without the use of a heater circuit but lesser phase noise performance. The SC cut crystal provides lower phase noise, but generally requires a heater circuit to provide higher stability. The SC cut crystal also provides the lowest vibrational sensitivity (0.3 ppb typical). Phase noise floor of -180 dBc/Hz with SC cut crystal. Typical temperature stability (military temperature range) of an AT cut crystal  is + 30 ppm without heater, and for a SC cut crystal is + 100 ppm without heater ( + 0.25 ppm with heater).

Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs)

TRAK Microwave VCO frequency ranges are from 0.3 to 5 GHz for bipolar transistor designs with a tunable frequency range from 1% to 40%. Multiple resonator topologies (LC, microstrip, ceramic) are available based on frequency, phase noise requirements, size, and cost. Typical output power range is from +7 to +13 dBm.
