RF / Microwave Switched Filter Banks

TRAK Microwave Switched Filter Banks typically include the integration of multiple filter topologies with PIN diode and MMIC switch sub-circuits to achieve operational bandwidths of greater than 3 octaves. Filter topologies include lumped element filters up to 6 GHz and distributed and cavity filter designs up to 20 GHz. Hybrid packaging allows for extremely small sizes, as exemplified by our SP5T switch with outline dimensions of 2.3" X 1.4" X.265".

Pin Diode Based Switched Filter Banks typically provide the highest level of signal isolation, higher operating power levels, and lower insertion loss, but utilize internal diode driver designs that require higher supply current. Switching speeds of < 40 nanoseconds can be achieved. Multi-octave frequency band coverage is more difficult to obtain.

GaAs MMIC Based Switched Filter Banks provide switching times as low as 10 nanoseconds with very low power consumption. Signal isolation is typically less than PIN diode designs, while isolation is usually lower than PIN diode designs. The GaAs devices internal to these switches limit the maximum input signal levels to less than 1 watt. These switches have the inherent advantage of supporting multi-octave frequency bands with extremely low power consumption.
