The new MFC171 is a highly integrated subassembly comprising a low-loss band-select filter, power absorptive limiter (PAL), and low noise amplifier (LNA) covering the Ku 15-18GHz military radar band, in a compact 5.25” x 2” x 2” package. The MFC171 allows Radar systems to operate in the presence of close-range reflectors or other high power emitters without damaging, and with minimal impact to the dynamic performance of, the Radar receiver, with fast recovery from in-band signal saturation. The module is designed to be mounted at the antenna, and is environmentally sealed to protect against salt spray, humidity, and to an altitude ceiling of 50,000 feet. The designed module has nominal small signal gain of 30dB, noise figure less than 5dB, and provides protection from in-band inputs up to 40W peak.
The existing module is designed for Ku band and -55C to +50C operating frequency, but can be leveraged to other frequency bands, higher operating temperatures, or other types of systems, including EW, datalink and communications.
